KRISESJOINT:  Frances Cabell b.1864 - brilliant & thank-you for finding her in 1871/81

NEWF:  You're right, Frances Cabel married William Gill in 1888 (Chelsea) as AMBLY explained I was convinced I had the correct marriage Frances Kate SHIRE & William Gill until an elderly relative insisted the name was definitely Cabel, so I sent for one of their sons birth certificate which stated her maiden name was indeed CABBLE.

Unfortunately, I'm no nearer finding out who her parents were.

Hopefully sorted, but I'd still like to see the other William and Frances Kate Gill on a census - eh Ambly / Liz 

strange how the 1891 and 1901 DoBs link neatly to both ladies 

so I really think that both marriages should be researched ..... unless its a complete co-incidence that 2 William Gills marry 2 Frances K's from Somerset ?

No, I haven't got the marriage cert. as I obviously had to send for a birth cert. to find out for certain Frances Kates maiden name as I still wasn't sure whether it was SHIRE or CABEL.......... must admit I was still surprised when it turned out to be CABBLE.

I understand ...... still curious at the huge coincidence of 2 Williams and two Frances etc ..... but as only one can be found on the census, and presumably thats the couple whose kid's cert you've got, its QED 

any theories as to why they trogged up to Chelsea to marry ?

No Newf, no idea as to why they married in Chelsea - that's another mystery. I can't thank-you enough for your help & interest.  I noticed that John Cabel was widowed between 1861/71 looked on freeBMD & found Anns death in 1869, I wonder if that explains why Frances was with the Aplins in 1871, I assume that maybe this was Anns brother - but as I've found out, one should never assume anything.
