1871 census look-up please
« on: Monday 22 December 08 11:08 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help find Frances Kate CABBLE (CABEL) born approx.1870 (later census states born Odcombe) & she also had an elder brother Charles. This is all I know, but I'm unable to find them in 1881. Desperately looking for their parents. If anybody can find them I know someone on here will as I've received so much help in the past. Thank-you in advance.

You can try & find a bit more in BMD indexes and also by using the 1871 search on ancestry.
even if you don't get to see the original page you can make some further steps towards cornering their details.

PARSONS  Harriet Louisa     Yeovil  5c 782
Shire  Frances Kate      Yeovil  5c 782

Births Jun 1870

Shire  Frances Kate     Yeovil  v5c p506

On the 1871 as Kate - mother is Mercy - but she's born East Chinnock .... hmmmm

Chrissie - did her maiden name come from a child's Birth Cert ? - if so, whose ?

Otherwise, can you tell us why you think her maiden name was Cab* - cant see her in Somerset FreeBMD marriages ?

Hi all

Chrissie's previous posts....explain that it is an elderly relative who insisted Frances was CABLE, even though Chrissie found all evidence pointed to her being the Frances Kate SHIRE birth registered Yeovil in Jun Qtr 1870.

As we've seen - there are a number of CABBEL, CABBLE, CABLE births reg in Yeovil 1868-1876 but no Francis Kate (Catherine, Katherine) (or Fanny).

There is the marriages Newf found
Jun Qtr 1888 - William James GILL and Frances Kate SHIRE on same page - Yeovil
Sep Qtr 1888 -  Frances Kate CABBELL -  1a 623 Chelsea

And a previous post, also found the most liklely missing groom from the Chelsea Marriage:
(not on FreeBMD): William GILL Sep Qtr 1888 Chelsea 1a 623 (no middle name). I've just looked up the image too, and it's there.

This looks for all the world like they married twice ! I think the certificates of both marriages might be the only way to possibly sort it out?

Cheers

The Sep 1888 William GILL -  Chelsea is on FREEBMD:
as ref:  1a [56]23 .

The image looks dead clear to me as 623.

Cheers
