Hello,
Here it is 2012 and I am just finding this website etc.  I am going to be visiting Greenoch in early May [port on our transatlantic cruise].  I was interested in finding a street address for my Great Grandparents - John Peters and Mary Adams Rutherford.  Now I have found so much more - added a couple more generations.

LinJ - your gr. grandmother was Mary Rutherford as well - who was your grandfather or grandmother?

I haven't worked on my family history for several years as other things have taken over my life but it is great to be interested again.

Hi

My grandfather was Samuel Peters.
Which line of the family are you from?

Hi LinJ
My Grandfather was George Rutherford Peters - the eldest child of John Peters and Mary Adams Rutherford.  It appears that Samuel was much younger as in the 1891 Census there is 13 years difference.

Would you mind sharing the dates for George and Sarah Rutherford.   Finding out that our family originated in Ireland was quite a revelation.

I didn't get too far with finding Market Street in Greenoch but I didn't have much time either.

Thanks for your message.  Where about are you situated?  I know a lot of the family went to Canada and Australia.  I am in Scotland.

Finding Irish information is quite tricky.  I will look out what I have found and get back to you.

I am in British Columbia, Canada.  Where in Scotland are you?  We have a cousin whos home is in Sterling and she has done extensive work on the Peters Family.  She was even able to get the application forms from Aberlour Orphanage for me as my mother and her siblings were left there for six years.  Their father George R. Peters came to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1907 and mother Isabella came in 1910.  The children came in 1915 with their eldest sister.

Bye for this time - love to hear from you.

Hi. thanks for your reply. I am in Aberdeenshire.  I also know the cousin who has done extensive research on the Peters side of the family.  I will look out some of the Irish information for you when I can.
