Strange name Dashper!!
« on: Monday 07 February 05 18:49 GMT (UK) »
There are only about three Dashpers that I am aware of, and they don't seem to be linked to mine.
My maternal Grandfather was Albert, Grandmother was Mary Dashper.  They lived in Balham and I think he was a railway porter.  Grandmothr I believe was a Mitchell, and was raised in a convent after her parents died while she was young.  Thats all I know about them, but I can find out the name of the convent, wonder if they keep records?  They had two daughters Esther, Cecily, and a son Albert.  Any information anywhere please  :'(

Hello,

After a quick look, there are about 50 Dashper's on the 1871 census, so I think you would really need to provide some birth dates(even if approximate) and birth places to get the best results.  As you've posted it here, we are not even sure which century you may be referring to  ;D  ;D  Sorry, couldn't resist that ... ;)

Once you've provided a bit more solid info (if you have it of course) what particular info are you seeking?

Look forward to your next post so we can try to help.

Best of luck
Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,
My family does choose some strange names  don't they?
I am sorry to say the only information I have is that I wrote earlier.  Albert would have been born sometime about 1885 I would think, I know he died in Balham on 30/11/1959 as it was my birthday!   I think I may have to drop looking for the Dashpers for now, and will try to contact a cousin who might have further information, but no one spoke much about their family in those days.  Wonder why?
Thanks
Celia

Hi Cecilia,

I hope you still check these forums as I have just started researching my family tree and the Albert Bailey Dashper you mention was the brother of my Great Grandmother (Esther Lucy Davis (Ne: Dashper))

Obviously I would  be VERY interested in talking with you about this!!!
