It's seeing my ancestors handwriting that I find amazing!

The census page written by my paternal great grandfather could have been written by my father - the handwriting is identical!!!!!! Is handwriting hereditary? ;) ;)

They seem to be having a few problems with their help system at the moment.  I sent a message about a missing image and get a reply telling me its there and they can see it.  So I try to open the image and I still can't so I send another message telling them about the missing image and they send another message telling me its resolved and they can see it and so on and so on.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I guess eventually I will get the blooming image.

Hi

Handwriting hereditary - I think it depends upon the family.  If you have a family where the adults want to teach the children writing then there will be a family handwriting style, especially if they write a lot of letters to each other.  Other families leave handwriting to the schools to teach and perhaps do not often write to each other.  In these circumstances it's unlikely that there will be similarities.

All the best

still no Wales!!! grrrrr. I think they may have forgotten the welsh

It's because the Welsh counties are towards the end of the GRO codes and the counties are added on in that order. Also, the Welsh counties all had bilingual schedules which means that some translation might be required.

I was lucky that many of my ancestors were in Wales but the Reg District was a Shropshire one so I got them during the Beta and have   had sight of the language question - my Mum didn't speak Eng or Welsh . She was too young  :D

Wohoo!!! Essex is there too! :) :)

I've found my gran! And her dad is retired so I now have a date when he left the police force to the nearest decade.

Now I'm just waiting for Durham.

I'm guessing they decided to open it up quietly so they dont get hit too hard with traffic. Get your searches done quick! It may not be stable for long. When the news gets out everyone will be on it.
