Unlike some other sites which I can't be bothered to mention, FindMyPast's credits usually roll over, so if you meet your deadline, they don't delete them they roll them over for another time period such as a year.

Hi

I don't know whether I am pleased or disappointed that the beta site has gone.  In the absence of Durham and NRY I was getting through credits at a high rate chasing down odd relatives who had moved South.  The redaction was irritating - one chap was in an institution (an inmate) but it did not give me the name of the institution and a boarding school that interested me seemed to be missing completely.  I sent an email to ask where it had gone but am still awaiting a reply.

The search was very quick and usually worked well and I did not come across any transcription errors in the records that I did get.  But the incomplete coverage helped to remind me why I subscribe to A*y, with all its faults, rather than FindMyPast.

Happy New Year

And there we all were thinking it was going to be early Jan

I didn't, especially when the test was announced.  They'll have some tweaking to do, and hopefully some thinking as well.

Spring would be my bet for the first counties to be fully released.

Hi

The beta version included Hertfordshire and I was interested in a large boarding school in Bushey, Hertfordshire, but I could not find any records about it.  So I sent 1911 census team an enquiry.  I have just received this reply:
Quote
Your enquiry has now been resolved. Please find the answer to your enquiry below:

We have now reached the end of the beta period for the 1911census.co.uk site.

We apologise for not responding sooner but have been inundated with calls since the beta site opened.

During the beta phase we released the site with a reduced data set in order to facilitate testing. When the site fully launches later this year all census data will be included.

We hope that you enjoy using 1911census.co.uk when it fully launches and if you have any further suggestions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Please, can anyone explain where in this reply is the resolution of my question?

Yes very resolved  ::) ::)

It looks like its resolved because the beta test has come to an end and you will have to wait till the site launches later this year.  :(

Not very helpful really is it?

Hi Kerry

Thank you.  That was what I was afraid that it meant.  I did not expect to be allowed to repeat my search but I had hoped for some information along the lines "Yes the data are there" or "No, it has been redacted for some reason."  It is certainly ungracious just to tell me that the trial is over, which I did know.

All the best
