I've got to wait for Sussex and Surrey where 3/4 of my lot were.  Very few in London by the time of the 1911 but it was a nice taster and it proved my Great grandad was no longer there  ::)  So I have to wait now to actually find him in sussex

I have been very lucky - found great gr father (my avatar) and 7 of his 10 children all living in Staffs and then one set of OH's grandparents in London.  ;D

I am looking forward to the Derbyshire and Manchester release in due course. I think that I had better start saving now! Most of my maternal line come from these two areas and there were a lot of them.

I've just received the invite again today, I received it on Friday originally.  Perhaps they have lengthened the trial period  :-\

Seems a little harsh, Gadget, - they made it clear that it was limited counties available on the beta Page, and from their updates it sounds as though they're still scanning the documents at Kew. Why should we expect everything all at once?

Maybe I am harsh but I'm judging it by pukka IT and  research testing standards. If they are going to do a Beta then they need to make sure that a full range of areas (which have different problems/features, etc) are covered.

This they have failed to do.

They seem to not have  been systematic in their choice of counties/sampling units.  And are charging us the full wack for the privilege.

This is not professional!

I agree that there is nothing systematic about their choice of counties, London I can sort of understand but the others all seem a bit random.  It might have been better to sample from all counties/counties to give a broader sweep of people a go at sampling the new site.

How do we know that there aren't massive mistranscriptions for instance with Welsh names.  :-\

But then what would we know  ::)

Hi Kerry

People here are pleased/excited by what they have discovered and have been willing to use credits for what is a test run. There have been no concessions whatsoever, as far as I can see.

Yes they need to cover their costs, but not on a test run.(Maybe half price  :-\). It smacks of trying to get in some return as quickly as possible. We are the guinea pigs and we have to pay for the privilege. It's not professional.

Me thinks I might have a bit to say to them - Maybe Christmas afternoon  ;D ;D ;D

I've had my say in their questionnaire.  I also made a correction, which they answered today, but had no reply from a query I sent to customer support, maybe they're overwhelmed!!
