Thanks for looking for my Violet Russell, les_looking. I did find that one - and she's the right age - but Newport Pagnell isn't right + I couldn't find any of her siblings or her parents listed there.

Without buying some credits to check it out, I'm still in the dark. It seems that the minimum credits you can buy is 60, and so far I've only found one household in Staffs (for my other branch) that might be mine so it's just not worth it.

I'm beginning to think that there are some parishes missing - especially with Lesanne's comments about the missing Berkshire entries.

I'm hoping that it's looking pretty likely that the finished site will be launched pretty soon so I think I'll be patient and wait. I'd really like to be able to find my Yorkshire ancestors, as there are a few more answers I'm looking for there - but it seems that Yorkshire isn't going to feature on this beta test site, especially as someone said it finishes tomorrow.

yep i guess for most it has just been a teaser, as i mentioned iv'e been VERY lucky in what i have found
and been worth every penny, but would be way to expensive to now search the additional info i have also sussed out,
but as some have been dead for close to 100 years another few months is not going to hurt,
i also have a feeling we went wrong somewhere, ::) as one of the address's i found my nan living in, in 1911, sold 2 years ago for £750,000, even with the crunch id be prepared to take the loss lol
i suppose 100 years ago they didn't hear "get into property"
good luck

Must be nice to have addresses.  Mine hardly ever do, unless it's a farm or a pub.  Just the name of the road if you're lucky.  The joys of country living!

I've just downloaded a couple of transcripts, but they do not have all the information quoted above.

They have:

Name
Relationship to head
Marital status
Years married
Sex
Age in 1911
Occupation
Where born

plus details of the address. I did not get details of children except those in the household at the time.

i take it you mean the household transcript? and cost 10 units
to get the above (full information) its the household original page you need (30 units)
ie you get the actual census form

Yes, that's what I thought, but with respect, you did say transcript, not original, in your earlier post where you listed all the other features.  I'd already got mine, but it might be a bit misleading for others.

Not long to go now ... hopefully the trial will still be available all day tomorrow.  Very clever of them to time it when everyone's so busy with other stuff!  ;D

Hi

Sadly I think things are already standardized.  I have just been looking at WW1 war diaries which the National Archive has put on line and the cost to view an image is £3.50.  It is not clear from the free index what information is in the image - you just get the name of a regiment, date and theatre - and the site warns that the diaries extend over several images.  So to follow a unit through a major battle will cost you several £3.50s including a few exploratory stabs to find the right unit first.

All the best

Gobbo

I have downloaded several wills with more than one page/image from TNA Docs OnLine and it cost £3.50 for the lot, had one with six pages. Why not e-mail them to check whether it's the same for the war diaries?

Not sure if the beta site is using the same server as the main FindMyPast site but the main one is decidedly slow tonight  :-\

Lesanne,
Sorry I missed your post!  Been busy reading about POW's in Burma  and Thailand.  Very harrowing.
Someone advised me to just put surname and County and both lots of Grandparents were there.  And with all the right children no surprises!  I spent ages trying to find them!
With FindMyPast proper and the 1911 I think less in put works better.
Have a Happy Christmas :D

on the transcript you get the address but not the number of children living and dead,
on the original, you don't get the address-so you need to spend 40 credits

far too expensive for me-my credits all went looking up five records
