30 CREDITS?

That is extortion.

There is the option of getting a transcription, where you don't see the original handwritten page, for 10 credits. I feel tempted to do that for non-direct ancestors, but I'd love to see the handwriting of my direct ancestors.

On the copy I got earlier, my great grandfather had done what I'm always doing and not read the instructions properly. He'd put his son's age in the female column and his daughter in the male. That's just the sort of thing I do all the time! He's had to scrub out the ages and write them into the correct columns. For some reason I found that really moving, imagining him when he realised he'd gone wrong and having to find something that would rub out pen. Made me feel very connected to him.

So far two of mine out of three haven't read the instructions  ;D

It says "for each married woman enter the number of years married and children born alive, still living and those who have died."

Two of mine put it in the hubby's column as well as the wife's.
One crossed it out and the other left it in both  ;D

Carol

PS I found it very sad that my great grandma had given birth to 10 children of whom 4 died. I knew my gran very well and they would have been her brothers and sisters.
Sad.....very sad.

I think this is right...on 'Find my Past', 1 Credit is 12p...and so 30 Credits is (about) £3.60p. (Is that right?). Maths isn't my strong point!

Looking at the 1911 has eaten up virtually all of mine...& there's so much that I want to look at in Glamorganshire when that comes on-line:-(
