Staffordshire Census 1861 Look up please
« on: Monday 07 February 05 16:16 GMT (UK) »
I have just received a a marriage certificate of: Reuben Cornelius LILLY aged 22, Bachelor, Jeweller, address - Handsworth father Thomas LILLY Coach Builder to Emma INSULL 22, Spinster, address  Rugby, father James INSULL, Buider, at The Parish Church in Handsworth, in the county of Stafford. 21 April 1860.
It is signed by the couple themselves and witnesses are:  William Staples ASHBY, M ASHBY, and Maria INSULL, which seem to be 2 sisters of the bride and a brother in law, as I found the marriage of William Staples ASHBY to Mary Ann INSULL took place 9 August 1851 at St Martins Worcester where I found another marriage that might fit this family of Thomas INSOLL who married Jane FEATHERSTONE 25 December 1853.

I wondered whether there is enough information here to find them on the 1861 census please?  I have no knowledge of Thomas LILLY father and this is an unusual surname.

The IGI shows Emma INSULL Chr 16 September 1838 at St Andrews Droitwich, along with:
Mary Ann  Chr 25 September 1831
Maria Chr 2 Jun 1833
Thomas Chr 22 Jul 1838
James Chr 11 Oct 1835

I contacted the Record Office at Worcester by email, and they have very kindly found the Parish Register entry for the marriage of Sarah PARTRIDGE to James INSULL on 22 June 1830 who according to the IGI were the parents of these children.  I have sent a cheque and SAE as they requested for a copy of the Parish Register entry, which I am waiting for.

My great-great grandfather was deodatus richard lilly- son of thomas lilly , coachbuilder of birmingham. deodatus was declared bankrupt in 1860 and moved to liverpool with his brother thomas, also a coach builder, to start a new business. any information on lilly family would be appreciated
