It's just interesting to note,That my one goal  is probably sooo far in the realm of impossabilty .IF I ever locate my dearest Carter relatives from Ulster..I'd want more than Anything.To learn the fate of the Bible.
I'm quite sure it was either forgotten to rot in the earth or
lost in the seasons of time.But my grandmother started a fire under my duff.When I was about 5 years old.A tale she
loved to reminisce on.About how our Ulster ancestors had to bury the Family Bible when the Irish Catholics were apperently stealing and burning them.It fascinated me to no end..and still holds sway.But alas even if I DO locate my looong lost kinfolk,I'm quite sure the Book in question is Long Gone.

Don't give up hope.  Our family didn't have such a troubled history as yours, but there was always talk of a family Bible, but no-one seemed to know exactly where it had gone.  Then, during my research into the family history, I made contact with a very distant "half cousin" on Genes Reunited (we shared the same g. grandmother, but had different g. grandfathers), and I mentioned the fabled missing Bible to her.  A few weeks later she was helping her sister sort through her late mother's effects, and her sister said that she had already discarded a lot of old stuff, and my half-cousin decided to investigate.  Inside the black sack was a very old Bible, with handwritten notes about the family inside the covers, and she rescued it.  It is now in the hands of the eldest person in the family, and won't be lost again !

No - never give up hope indeed. My family in Northumberland had a book - "The Life of Christ" - in which they wrote the births and marriages. It turned up a month ago - in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

That is brilliant, Mike.

We know that the family bible for "our" branch of our tree went out to Australia with a rellie who emigrated, so have had to content ourselves with a few photos sent over from a descendent there - but at least we know it is still around.
Another family bible for a different branch is mentioned in a couple of wills, it was passed down, do we know the last ancestor that should have had it. But where it went when she died - who knows? Perhaps one day it will turn up somewhere...... you have given me hope!
