 1882 debs. As Cooper descendents probably know, Leland wrote many books about gypsies, and he and Matty were very close. Leland wrote about many of Mattys relations in his books and diaries.  I am sure somewhere i have some notes of lelands where he mentions joshua in letters written to Genty, Mattys sister, so will give some idea of when Joshua died.

sorry cathay, wont be  here for much longer as taking Dad and Kate to panto. Saw your email and responded. I had already written the stuff on the taylorsmith post in the traveller forum last night after irene asked for help. Son  will be here, but he wont be much help! love betty xx

well so your all not mad at me at the hunt i have posted then?i thought i may have to hide under the table for a few days!!!!
i would really like to know about the smith family with isabel etc.,.eek smiths most folk run a mile when i say that!!!!cause emma taylor married edward smith (well they may not have been married but they had kids together)she married later a kefford!!!and she lived in tottedown old school yard.you may remeber he from my other hunt!!!!but i still want rosie smiths emma taylors daughters birth details so that we can get a cert for her.
what i am thinking is if emma taylor was with a edward smith   and athelia taylor was with sam a smith is there a connection?and i hate to say it but i thnk williams and millers may come into it soon aswell!!!shall i run now and hide?come out again next week?

so we have Joshua Cooper s/o Mathias Cooper
Joshua Cooper = Atheliah Taylor ... they have Jabez (who marries Emily Dunn)is this correct?

Athelia Taylor bc 1842, Surrey has Cinderella Taylor circa 1868
Atheliah then marries Joshua Cooper and has Selina (who marries Christopher Herne/hearne)
Joshua dies
Atheliah Taylor Cooper then marries Sam Smith (who's 1st wife was Priscilla) and they have Isabella/Bella Smith born walton on thames .... she is half sister to Selina Herne nee Cooper.

Athelia dies 1902 in Brentwood

her death registration states Atherlia Taylor .... no mention of her being wife of sam Smith

another thought
according to 1891 census Selina HERNE nee TAYLOR or Cooper says she is 24  = bc 1867
Isabella/Bella SMITH is 13  = bc 1878

then Cathay said that Athelia had a Cinderella TAYLOR (no dad) bc 1868

so this is confusing as Selina is d/o Athelia and Joshua COOPER ...but she marries as a Taylor ...could Selina be Cinderella . Cinderella is born out of wedlock, but Atheliah is having Selina the following year with Joshua COOPER...

do I make sense?

Did selina marry under Cooper or taylor?
