Hi TigerOC,

I think our Llewellins may possibly be related, but I'm a bit stuck with them, so not sure! Mine are certainly connected to Whitchurch.

I have an Elizabeth Llewellin marrying George Ikin in Whitchurch 1770. For ages I couldn't find a baptism for Elizabeth, but finally found her in Malpas in 1746, a neighbouring parish over the county border in Cheshire. She's the daughter of Thomas & Sarah.

I think Thomas and Sarah then moved to Whitchurch (where I think Thomas came from, baptised 1731) and had the following siblings to my Elizabeth:

John 1750; Thomas 1751 (died); Thomas 1753; William (1755); Mary 1757 (died); Mary 1758; Eleanor and Robert 1760 (Robert died); James and Robert 1762.

I'm wondering if John (1750) could be the father of your George? Tentative, I know, but possible. What do you think?

Unfortunately, I haven't found the parish records for this area to be that accessible, so it's very difficult to get any further back.

Jill

HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

Thanks Jill,

Judging by the small number of records for this family in the area, there is a very good chance we are related.

There is an interesting link is names; Thomas and Sarah named a child Eleanor. The mother of the John I am looking at, born 1743, was Ellinor. His parents are recorded as John and Ellin and other records Ellinor.

1850 is too young. On the law of averages the male spouse tends to be around 25 when getting married, in my experience. The marriage of John and Sarah READ is recorded for 1761 although the first recorded baptism is Apr 1764. Unless Sarah had a number of miscarriages or stilborns the marriage date may be suspect. If John was the one born 1743 he would have been 18 when he married.

Are there any resource materials or a Parish Clerk that could look up burial records? John would probably have died in the early 1800's on the law of averages and burial record or even better a Will would provide some insight.

Regards, Rob

Hi,

I noticed that you have Richardsons in your family tree and that your Dad came from Wellington, Shropshire. I don't know if you can help me but here goes...... My Nan was born Dorothy Richardson on 27th April 1908 at Kings street, Wellington. her Fathers details are not given but her Mother is named as Margaret Richardson of King street, Domestic servant Housekeeper. My Nan ended up in the Workhouse as it was then from where she was taken in aged 13 by an Emily Blount. She married my Grandad John Job Briscoe in 1930.
For about 3 years now my Sister and I have been trying to find out anything about the Richardson line with little success. We found a Margaret Richardson in Shrewsbury in 1901 working for a licenced vituler as a Domestic servant which could be her but we can't trace any Margaret R in the 1911 census in Shropshire. My Nan was always ashamed of where she came from so we only know the name of her Mother because i sent away for a copy of her Birth Cert.
Have you any Margaret Richardsons in your line in Shropshire/Staffs who may fir the bill? I know it's a very long shot but we have been stuck now for such a long time.
Many thanks and regards,
Erica.
