Hi William

I wish I could get past Edward and get to the 1600's. I don't think I'm going to have any luck getting info pre 1750's.  Good luck with your search and thanks again.

Hi Wendy

I had a good look at all my records and couldn't find your Griffiths or a link to mine.

Hi,

Thanks for checking.  My Griffiths' are difficult to follow.  After (father) Edward died, the children  seem to leave Whittington (Daywell).  So far I found one in Wales (followed by her sister).  Another went to Croydon after joining the Grenadier Guards in Manchester.

Wendy

Its not easy Wendy going so far back and with the lack of maiden names as well.I wouldn't have found the Lea/Griffith marriage without the help of a cousin in the USA.

Hi Wendy

I notice that the marriage on the IGI is a patron submision one which states married 'about 1793', Whittington. Patron submissions can be submitted by anyone and are not as carefully controlled as the 'Extracted' ones that usually have a C or M as the first character in the Batch number. The patron submissions  can be correct but need to be carefully checked against parish records.

Have you consideed the marriage of Edward Griffiths to Anne Roberts, in St Martins in 1794. This looks like an Extracted record from the parish records. It would be worth following up.

Thanks for the 'Roberts' possibility.   It sure would be nice to get past this hurdle.  I'll keep you posted.

Hi,

I found Anne Roberts/Edward Griffiths.  Not living in UK, I'm not sure of the demographics of some of the places.  Is Saint Martin Parish in the Whittington area?  Is it a town?  It's doesn't seem to be  common area listed in FamilySearch.org as a birth place.

I did find two Anne Roberts born in Whittington -- one 1772 and the other 1774.  Interesting is one of them had a father William/mother Mary which are both dominant names in my tree.  The other had a father Richard which I don't have any.

Do the original records give more information?

Wendy

Hi Wendy

St Martin's is the parish immediately to the north of Gobowen/Daywell. This link has a clickable map.
