 :) :) :) :) :)

Welcome here and to Rootschat.

I've got Griffiths from Whittington (the parish contained Gobowen) and St Martins. What are your names?

Hi,

I have George Edward Griffiths b. 1805 Daywell.  He joined the Grenadier Guards in Manchester and eventually ended up in Croydon (where the majority of my family is).  I found a George Edward born to Edward and Ann Griffiths on Ancestry.co.uk.

Common names in my tree are (probably like everyone else around that time) are Edward, George, William, and Johns.

Hi Wendy

I'll have to go looking in my Griffiths file - Daywell does crop up. Mine are descended from a Samuel.

Thanks.  The last confirmed documentation I have is a marriage certificate for George Edward (second marriage) to a Mary Beach in Croydon in 1860.  I cannot locate his first marriage record which was to a Harriett Hooker from Shere, UK.  On the certificate he lists his father as Edward - Labourer.  It doesn't mention that the father is deceased but I cannot find anything on Edward from 1841 living in Daywell.

I did find an Edward Griffiths, b. Daywell, abt 1769.
