Hi Pete:

Could I join your chat group? My greatgreatgrandparents were born in Shorpshire. I have two Hotchkiss lines that come from there.

Cheers

Are you sure, Wotty?

Lived in Shropshire for 17 years and thought I was a "first" but then found a gggrandmother came from there!

... and Anne, we could be related but don't know how to prove the link.  Are your Hotchkiss from Madeley?  I have a Brookes connection with the only current possibility yet found, linked to a Hotchkiss family.

So, of course, count me in.

Just remembered, follwing that link was one of last year's resolutions, but haven't yet found a way to be sure  :-\

Me too, Pete!!  :D

My paternal grandmother came from Oulton near Stone in Staffs but her ancestry is definetly Shropshire - Moreton Say area.

Trouble is, their surname was Stubbs - which seems to be one of the most common in that area!  :'(

Well, you never know. Maybe some ancestral memory is why I feel at home in Shropshire!
