Hi Pete

Thanks

Yes this is her - I have this info already but I am trying to trace her birth as I do not know who her parents are. I think she may be the illiegitimate daughter of Maria born 1846 or Jane Broome born 1848 both in Liverpool neither of whom I can trace after 1871 census.

Hi Gensleuth,

I'm investigating possible links to a Boden family in Madeley or Madeley Wood, around 1800.  Are your Boden's from that area?

Hi Shropshire Chatters,

Nice to see mention of the Dingle, and of Oswestry. My mum was born in Oswestry and her mother Dorine Williams ran a guest house there in Willow Street in the 60's - early 70's?

Went back to the Dingle in Shrewsbury this summer, as my mum and nan wanted it to be their final resting place. Nan Dorine was born in Shrewsbury and most of her rellies were hatched, matched and despatched at St Chad's I expect.

The names I'm researching from the local areas can be seen below.
Staffordshire - Kendrick, Higgs, Ralph, Mears, Egginton, Simkiss, Beebee, Hartshorn, Pitt, Howard, Law, Hilton, Humphreyson,
Worcestershire - Kendrick, Onions, Timmins, Harvey, Stephens, Hill
Shropshire - Williams, Wilcox, Moreton, Poole, Gennoe, Stedman, Astley, Morris, Roe
Carmarthenshire - Naylor
Montgomeryshire - Williams, Wilcox
Middlesex - Silver, Martin
Suffolk - Chenery
Somerset - Owen, Chorley, Rugg
Lancashire - Evans, Silver

Hi DudleyWinchurch

It looks like Madeley for the Bodens, but I am only just beginning to find them.
My ancestor Joseph Guy b 1837 Wombridge married Emma, 1858 Wellington.[FreeBMD]
This seems to be Emma Boden, but I have yet to prove it.
If it is the Emma I think it is, then she was born in the Madeley area about 1838 [census].
There is a christening for a Emma Boden in 1838 in Broseley and her parents are John and Mary Anne.
Looking at the batches for Madeley and surrounding towns, there seem to be quite a few Bodens.

Hi Gensleuth,

Similarly, I have a Fanny Brookes, born Madeley or Madeley Wood (censuses), around 1803, for whom the only candidate christening found so far is with parents Samuel Brooke and Lucera Boden.  Since both Samuel and Lucy figure amongst her children and don't appear to be from names on her husbands side of the family, it looks good but all circumstantial.

Hi,

Could anyone tell me where I could find a marriage that took place around 1793 in Gobowen.  This marriage would be between Edward Griffiths and Ann.  I found the marriage on FamilySearch.org and have found the children on the Shropshire Parish Records.  But in none of these records do they mention Ann's maiden name.

Any help appreciated.

Wendy

It is the case I'm afraid with many of the early Shropshire Parish Registers Wendy. When I was at the Shrewsbury Record Office last year I was left frustrated with many of the entries.

Thank you for replying William.  It is frustrating.  As I said I found the marriage on Familysearch.org but never did find the marriage on the Parish Records CD so I can't even figure out the father of my Edward Griffiths.

I noticed you have Jones/Griffiths.  My records indicate the son of above, Edward Griffiths married Elizabeth Jones around 1820 in Daywell.

Again thanks

Wendy
