« on: Monday 08 December 08 16:49 GMT (UK) »

Albeit in name only. During the 1940 - 50s+ there was  Behan family living at St Corbans Place Naas. Perhaps the library or the Catholic Church might help

Hi I have more information that may jog someones memory regarding the Behan family James Behan married Ann Haseldon not anne sinnot and they had three sons Edward James and Hugh when James srn died James jrn was taken back to Ireland (Kildare) and brought up by his aunt who also had other children of her own James died in the 1960s after a drowning accident I have also been told that he used to walk the greyhound Mick the Miller for the priest who owned it I believe the Naas area is were he lived

hi, i am not sure if this is of any relevance, but my grandmother was a behan from calverstown, co kildare. we know she is related to loads of behans in naas, her name is kathleen , she had married and settled in athy, she was born in the 1917 and died in 1975.  we are trying to trace our family history and are at a dead end.

Hi

I only know what I put in my original posting the only other things I know are family names that have been continued in the family
Edward son of james
Mary daughter of James
Hugh son of James (died aged one)
James
all born in England but James (their father) was born in Kildare    James was taken to Naas when James srn died and brought up by an Aunt  who's  name I don't know but her single name would have been Behan and I know she had other children
I have found a marriage for an Edward Behan and Mary Connelly with sons James and Hugh and a Daughter Sara this could be my James but I cant confirm one way or the other
If any of this fits in with you or we can help each other please get in touch
Carolyn

hi carolyn, i have only started this family tracing this week, so i am all over the place at the moment, one thing i know for sure, my grandmother was a Kathleen Behan before marriage, she was born in calverstown outside naas , she had a few brothers and sisters, not 100% of there names, but my mother thinks there was an Edward, James, Michael, Pauline, margaret and james, she thinks some of them moved into naas and surrounding areas of castledermot, this is all she knows at the moment. there might be some connection as these behans date back to 1880,s , 1910 approx.
