Some more new Sussex CDs
« on: Wednesday 03 December 08 12:18 GMT (UK) »
These transcriptions of Sussex parish registers are recent additions to the list of PRTS publications.  See http://www.prtsoc.org.uk/

One or other of them may be of interest to readers of this board.  I ordered the Mayfield volume yesterday - as a customer of the society I've always found them to give very good service.

Linchmere, St Peter
PRTS volume number: SXW079
Baptisms: 1565-1602, 1605-1716, 1742-1901
Banns: 1653-1657, 1755-1902
Marriages: 1566-1725, 1753-1899
Burials: 1566-1697, 1714-1717, 1742-1902

Mayfield, St Dunstan's (transcribed by the SFHG)
PRTS volume number: SXE080
Baptisms: 1571-1812
Banns: N/A
Marriages: 1571-1812
Burials: 1571-1812

Yapton, St Mary
PRTS volume number: SXE081
- can't find the dates for this volume.

(The Linchmere volume seems to be missing from the PRTS on-line ordering system.)

Hi Stovepipe

I'm hoping that Father Christmas will bring me a couple  but I didnt put Mayfield
on my list - so would you kindly look on it for me for our Holmes and my Mascalls.
If there are some I will purchase it.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Kerry,

Hope you have as much luck with it as I'm having (it arrived today - and I only ordered it the day before yesterday!).  Making great progress on one of my most important lines - gone back two more generations and firming up several connections that were previously just tentative.

Hi Sue,

There aren't that may Holmes entries - maybe 10 or so.  Quite a few more Mascalls, but still not a very great number.  Please let me know what in particular you'd like me to look up.  If I recognize any Holmes as being ours I'll let you know in any case.

Regards,
Stovepipe

Crikey at this time of year that is good delivery.

Had a look last night and identified a couple which would be really useful for me.  Will put in an order.

Hi, I've been looking at the available CD's but do you know whether Lodsworth comes under Petworth, Midhurst or neither?
Thanks

Hi Zoe

I found this brilliant page on Genuki last night answering someone else's similar query http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/midhurst.html

It seems it is in Midhurst

Hi Stevepipe

I'm looking for a marriage of Thomas Mascal father to my Jonadab Mascall born in burwash 1737
mother Catherine ?.
There is a Thomas born 1705 under the Heathfield Parish Record father Richard but no marriage
of Thomas and Catherine.
On the Sussex Apprentice and Masters 1710-1752 (Mascall Thomas son of Richard of Heathfield
to Richard Durant of Chidingly -wheelwright - 1724)
So if you could check the Mayfield Parish Record that would be great.
Regards
Sue

Hi Kerry,
Thanks for the link and info  :) I have one more question though (sorry), the link says Lodsworth was in the district of Midhurst 1837 -1935 but what about before 1837? I had a look but couldn't find anything.

Thanks again  ;D
