ROSSITER
« on: Tuesday 02 December 08 17:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone,

New on here. Am looking for info on the ROSSITER family who were in Milton near Sittingbourne around early - mid 19th century and possibly as far back as 1750. Names I have are Richard - Edward - Richard - William (my great Grandfather) who married an Amelia (Millie), they then moved to Enfield, Middlesex and had 9 children including my Grand-Father. Also links by marriage to LOADER(1794) and CHAPPELL(1818) and TAYLOR (1758)
Would anyone be able to confirm any further info. please. I've heard they were quite a large travelling family. Possibly travellers and/or gypsies originating in Ireland. Also, would anyone please be able to explain the difference and also any differences with Romany Gypsies and if possible who/what the Rossiters were? Just would be nice to know where I come from ! Thanks - thats a lot of questions....!

Are you still around jzbross? (I realize you posted this two years ago.)

My family of Chapells and Smiths was located in the Milton Sittingbourne area around that time, and one Mary Ann Chapell married a Richard Rossiter there in 1837. Let me know if you've found anymore information, because I have been wanting to find some myself!
