Morris, Andrew Whithorn 1863
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 17:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for an Andrew Morris who was in Whithorn about 1862/3. His occupation was given as a gamekeeper.

He had an illegal son by Sarah Carly (or Carlie) in Whithorn on the 15th March 1863. For some reason I seem to be unable to find Andrew Morris on any records in Dumfries and Galloway.
Can anyone help

Cheers,
Bob

Thanks for your reply. I see Broughtane Mains is only about 3 miles from Whithorn so there is a chance that this is the correct person. Although the surname is not correct it is not the first time we have come across this problem.

Thanks again, cheers

Hi Bob,

I just came across your message.  Not sure if you have already found the information you were looking for, so thought I would send what I found.

Regards,
Charlene

Note: This is from a transcription, so I couldn't see the farm or estate on which the cottage was located - the farmer from Cutloy Farm was on the same page, but he may have been working on another nearby property.

There seem to be 2 threads on this topic, maybe they should be merged to prevent duplication of effort.  :)
