Can anybody help me in my Quest to find members of my fathers family ?

James Liddell was my father he was born in Gorbals, Glasgow on the 17th May 1940 but sadly died on the 31st Jan 1979 when i was 3mths old !

All i know is that he had a brother that was a Postmaster in the General Post Office, and a sister who was a Midwife. My father was a Deep Sea Fisherman onboard the Boston Explorera (ex- Aberdean Explorera).

If anybody knew my father or his family please contact me on (*)

Hi Sean, welcome to Rootschat
For information of this type you need to go to the library , i dont know which one that would be as i dont know the area where your father was born and/or go to the local records office and get a birth certificate for him as they have lots of useful info on them eg fathers name and address plus his father (your grandad) name.
Cencus information is not available after 1901 anywhere.
Could you not ask any family members if they know anything about him?
Good luck

The address for the Registration Office for Glasgow is

1 Martha St

Glasgow G1 1JJ

0141-287 7679

You can order the certificates by phone and each one will cost £13.50

The Mitchell Library North St Glasgow holds a vast amount of backdates newspapers on microfilche which you could search to see if there was a death notice put in for your father

Hope this will be of some help to you
