Hi,
was your Relative killed in an accident that involved water pipes falling down the Pit Shaft.

I haven't been in the Pub for many years, but there was a framed Scroll regarding the incident on the wall in the Tap Room of the Robin Hood at Rainworth.

That's a shame.

You could try the County Archives or the local newspaper (Chad) for a report of the inquest.

That's a shame.

You could try the County Archives or the local newspaper (Chad) for a report of the inquest.

The Chad wasn't in existance at this time, perhaps the Chronicle or Advertiser as they were known. There were also other local newspapers.

The Librarian at Mansfield Library is always extremely helpful so if you made a visit I am sure he will point you in the right direction.

Agree with earlier post - Mansfield Library excellent Newspaper refs - indexed, found info. on accident in Mansfield Advertiser (very detailed) and Nottm Evening Post for Annesley Pit
