Re- Robert Wilson
« on: Thursday 27 November 08 15:25 GMT (UK) »
Hello Everyone
I had such a fantastic response to my last question I thought I would push my luck and ask another one.
Robert Wilson (b abt 1820 Gorbals ?) married Elizabeth ? (b abt 1832 Scotland) sometime between 1841 -1851, I have him 1841 lodging with a Dobie family St Ninians St Lanarkshire by 1861 he is living in Swinton Yorkshire England with Elizabeth, 1871 he has 2 sons Robert 11 and William 5 Swinton Yorkshire, 1881 he is widowed with son William 15 Scarborough Yorkshire I know his other son was married by then still living in Yorkshire.
I realize its a common name but any help would be great, the only other info I have is he was a Slater as was Robert jnr.
Thank you
Kim  :)

Looked at the England census for robert 1871 - I think my earlier post isn't him as the census says she was from Hawick and Eliz Muir was from Old Monklands according to SP OPR. Also her birthyear would have meant she would have only been 13 yrs old. Looks as if he's met Elizabeth on his road down from Glasgow towards Yorkshire, Could he have married in England?

Hello Gerry
Quite possible they married in England, not had a lot of luck with the childrens births either they were both born in England. The eldest Robert William is mine really he married and died quite young, his daughter married my husbands Grandfather.
Kim.  :)
