Too kind Paula :o

I did not get the lettering over the entrance, and there are lion heads over the pictures.

Did you see the man up the ladder, he was a surprise?

No, I didn't see him, Mike, or sure as heck I would have put him in. Well done.

Mike

Very well done, don't be to hard on yourself, remember not only did you see the man on the ladder, but by her own admission there was a little cheating involved on the last 2, (the 1st one was brilliant).

If you would like, I'll post the first 2 again for you ;D.

Congratulations it's a nice job

Thank you all ever so much

Liz

Yes, thanks for the compliments folks, BUT this is not true picture restoration, as much has been imported to make it look right. Hence my psuedo apology. I was told quite bluntly on another forum you change nothing, you add nothing, you work with what is there if it is not there paint it black! These were the originators of the  "colouring like child's crayons" quote........

However if this patch up helps to reflect the mood and story of the original  in some way it meets a need.

I await the damning criticism from the purists who so far have not arrived on the string.

Oh dear I'm turning into Victor Meldrew.

As I say on the BBC Messageboard....
Oh....LITTLE ROUND THINGS!
Mine isn't yer actuall photo... it's a twist on photo number one, transplanted.
This picture is virtually hopless to do by the correct means....
Improvisation is called for.

The last sentence is spot-on in my view. We would all agree that in a crime-scene photograph one shouldn’t add a couple of guns or anything, and if this photo was for a ‘Fairground Historical Society' a lot of care should be taken – but in a photo such as this for the purely personal interest of a fellow poster, I truly believe that it is perfectly acceptable to recreate missing areas. Provided one states that that is what has been done – as you did.

(I actually also believe that the same should be done with ruined castles and the like, with appropriately marked stones – but that’s another story. ;D)

Excellent restores Paula and Mike.
Please scan all photographs at 300-600 dpi.
Please feel free to colour any restores posted by me. An acknowledgement would be much appreciated.

A few more filters and the original gets a bit nearer - nothing much added nothing taken away.

What say you?
