Army Records
« on: Monday 24 November 08 17:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am trying to find the death, burial and poss. grave stone of my Great Uncle James O'Neill.

I have just obtained his army records and he was discharged 31/3/38, station Aldershot, having enlisted on 1/3/15. His Army number is 7578866, Staff Sergeant, Armourer Section / Royal Army Ordinance Corps.

The records show he was discharged to Lyndale, Lynchford Road, Farnborough. The address doesn't appear to exist now. I expected the records to say when his pension stopped. But they didn't! I have found the death certificate of Hilda Sophia, his wife, she died age 104! would she have received a pension after James died? Ancestry has been searched - I did send for a death cert in Basingstoke age seemed right, but it wasn't the right one!

Any advice, help or what to do next would be much appreciated.

Mary.

Hi Mary

I see from reading all the posts that I am years out of date, has the trail gone cold and is no-one looking any more?
