Filling an 1851 hole *COMPLETE*
« on: Monday 24 November 08 12:11 GMT (UK) »
I now have an almost complete picture of my GG grandmother, Isabella Magee (or McGee or McGhee) - with help from you lovely people. In 1841, she was a 5-year old inmate of Berwick Workhouse. In 1861 she was married to my GG grandfather, Thomas Kyle McLeod, and living in Spittal.

Can anyone help me with the 1851 gap - where was the 15-year old Isabella?

Thanks ... Mike

She was born 21 October 1835 in Spittal. As she was brought up in the workhouse, which pushed girls towards domestic service, I wondered if she could have been working outside the Berwick area - not too far outside, though, else she would never have met Thomas.

The index I have doesn't allow more detail, but someone could probably look up the reference number I gave to see the family she was servant to in Berwick
