Cornelius Carman

Cornelius was born in Wisbech in 1861, I can find him on the 1861 & 1881 census. He died in 1921 in Bedford. I know he married a lady called Clara Smart and they had a daughter born in Bristol in 1898 called Alice Clara.  I cannot find a record of Corneluis marriage, the birth of Alice, or him and or his family on the 1891 or 1901 census.  Any suggestions where I can go from here?

Do you have access to census? In 1871 he's at RG10/1368 37 24 (leave surname out)

Maybe Cornelius married (or not) Clara later in life? (There's a possible death for Henry age 50 in 1907)

I can't see him at all in 1891 and 1901 but notice that he was in the Army in 1881. Maybe he was abroad, still in the army?
