Did Beatrix POTTER and Beatrice POTTER (later WEBB) stem from the same family?

Hi, Everyone,
Have been involved in a course at the U3A in Cambridge that is dealing with famous diarists of their time.  Today we were looking at Beatrice WEBB (nee POTTER).  She is someone who I knew next to nothing about till today.
However, I do have a volume of Beatrix (sic) POTTER's diary for exactly the same period.  I believe both women died at about the same time in the 1940's, Beatrice being born in 1858, while Beatrix (of Peter Rabbit fame) was born in 1866.
Does anyone know whether these illustrious ladies came from the same POTTER line somewhere pre-19thC.

Huh--Beatrix Potter's father Rupert founded the National Trust  I did not know that.

And Beatrice Potter Webb's husband's nephew was Sir Stafford Cripps, once famously introduced by a BBC announcer as Sir Stifford Crapps 

But offhand I wouldn't say they are from the same family...

Hi, Spearbean, and welcome to Rootschat!
I've just contacted you by PM, and so we should be able to discuss the KNIGHT family of Clones now...
I think I'm barking up the wrong tree with these POTTER's as I have discovered that Beatrix POTTER's father was Rupert POTTER (1832-1914); her grandfather was Edmund POTTER (1802-1883); and her great-grandfather was James POTTER (1776-1821).
The only trace of Beatrice POTTER I have discovered so far is that her father Richard POTTER, who was baptised in Leyland, Lancs, in 1817, had parents called Edward and Margaret.
I don't think I'm going to find an obvious link between these two families...
