My grandad fought in the Boer War as well as WW1 - 1st Loyal North Lancashire Regiment.  I have his regimental number from WW1 - do you know of any way of finding any information about him in the Boer War

Do you know when he was born? 2806 is a bit low for a Boer War veteran, and was probably issued to a Regular in the mid-late 1880s. If so he may have been a member of a TF battalion before WW1, after his service as a Regular - when he would have had a different number. It also means that there will be another set of papers, not affected by WW2 bombing.

I have a medal roll to the LNLR somewhere, but I am changing computers and cannot find it. Others will have it, as it is on CD.

I am assuming you cannot find his WW1 papers on Ancestry, and have you found him on the 1891 Census?
