warner birth abt 1801?
« on: Monday 17 November 08 20:07 GMT (UK) »
hi, I wonder if someone can help me?

One of my ancestors was born in Oxfordshire about 1801?

I have him in the 1841 census in Oxfordshire, with a family and a possible partner in Charlotte?

To add to the confusion there could be a name change- Warren!

Many thanks

1841 is he the one in Chesterton? If so it's Elizabeth not Charlotte.

Hello,

I've found out that William Warner did marry a Charlotte Godfrey, not sure on the date but my main aim is to try and find his parents!?

He seems to have spent most of his time in the South Leigh area and he died in 1850, in Witney.

Any help would be greatly received

Many Thanks

Re: Robert Warner marriage or birth?

Hello,

I have found out that William Warners father was Robert Warner.

I have found him in one 1841 census source, in others he is not present.

Robert was born abt 1774 in Oxfordshire and he has a wife Elizabeth, born abt 1773. She may not have been born in Oxfordshire. A George Warner born abt 1827 also resided with them, grandson possibly?

They lived in Rosemary Lane Bampton, Weald, Witney, Oxfordshire.

I would be very grateful on any details of possible marriages/ births for Robert.

Many thanks

Hi, I'd be grateful for any help  ;D

I've had a chance to look at the parish records for Southleigh and Stanton Harcourt, areas where there has been alot of activity for my Warner farmers!
Southleigh gave me some interesting burials but no births, so I'm assuming the families were born else where?

Even if some areas can be ticked off the list, that would be a great help!
I'm listing the following areas due to wills etc that have mentioned them and because they are close to Southleigh, Stanton Harcourt!

Robert Warner was born abt 1766 and was buried in Southleigh in 1830.

His son William was born abt 1799 and was buried in Southleigh in 1850.

The areas I now favour for births are- Aston (coate?), Bampton, Witney, Cogges or Eynsham.

I know this is probably too great a task but any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

William Warner born 1801 is my great great great grandfather. He married Charlotte Godfrey from Abingdon and had at least 5 children - Robert, Thomas, Ann, Charlotte and William who is my direct descendant. He is on the 1841 census as being a farmer at South Leigh. He dies on 15th Sept 1850
