I have Mackies in the family. Found a Walter Mackie who married a Catherine Redpath. Though strange thing was that on their marriage certificate....written as Rippith but an alias Redpath??
Do you have any idea why this would be?Be great if you could come up with some info.

should have said that marriage took place on 13th jan1804 in kilrenny

thanks su i was just in the middle of asking when it came through.

the name change could be due to dialect. they say it one way registrar thinks it should be spelt another.

But why would they write `Alias` on certificate?

just another way of putting name down

on the death index where they knew the wifes name its written as alias
