I have extracted the Philp bdm info from the FHC films for Markinch parish and the only info I found was their was a Robert Philp married a Lilly Young 8/12/1774 in Coaltown. Perhaps one of Roberts children named George who married Isabel Melvel is the parents. Researchers please note in extracting the Philp data I found many mispellings of the Philp Name.

Hi,

My family the Greig family of Fife have a seriries of Philps. James Greig dob 14.8.1788 was married to Christian Philp dob about 1796. Her parents were William Philp born 1753, died 25.2.1814 in Logie, Fife. His wife was Christian Kay born 1753.

I have the names of the progeny of Christian Philp.

Hiya,
Am just new here, so am not sure if I'm heading in the right direction!
Has anyone any info on a James Pringle Philp born around 1836??? I suspect it may have been in the Fife area, but haven't been able to validate this!
He immigrated to NZ in 1860 & settled in Timaru.
I have just started going down my late husband's line, & have only gotten back as far as said JPP...& have now got totally stuck!!
Any bright ideas please??
