I am much interested in your last post:-
"So I thought the parents of Ellen Sullivan was John Sullivan and Joanna Dignan".
Do you have any documentation or other records to support the parents of Ellen Sullivan being John Sullivan and Joanna Dignan?
This John Sullivan is my Great Grandfather X 4.
I have done extensive research around Ellen Sullivan include visiting St Colemans Cathedral in Cobh (Queenstown) and could not establish any further link after her baptisim record of 1840.
Incidentally I have a copy of this record.
I also have a copy of the baptism record of her brother John Sullivan, my great grand father X 3 who came out to New Zealand. He fought in the Maori Wars around Wanganui and south Taranaki in 1866.
At the time of my visit in 2013 I was much assisted by the office staff at St Coleman's Cathedral and a considerable time was spent on this research in Cobh including other genealogy agencies. There was no other record of Ellen Sullivan after 1840 ... she had vanished !!!
Also another twist. Joanne Dignan's correct surname is DINAN. This was established beyond doubt if I recall correctly from John Sullivan's hospital admission records from 1920 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
You might also want to refer to my post about John Sullivan and Joanne Dignan (Dinan), John Sullivan, his sister Ellen Sullivan and my visit to Cobh (Queenstown) in 2013.
