Well done Sancti, another blast from the past! All those folk gone now, apart from the 2 Burke boys, (Ellen and Thomas' adopted sons) Good picture of Trixie, she never changed over the years. I'd forgotten how tiny Jane became but she could still clear a pub at closing-time on a Saturday night without anyone's help. She had a fine set of lungs on her.
I look down on bishop Thompson's grave from my office window in the Dalziel Building on Scott Street, a lonely spot for so many years but at least he has Joe Devine for company now.
Interesting to read the little bit about Fr Noel Carey to the side of the main article, he was a great favourite of my granny's and used to bring her a 1/4 bottle of brandy when he visited her. We always liked to hear that he had been as she was strictly tee-total. She used to put the bottle under the kitchen sink beside the bleach and cleaning stuff but we always found it! Happy dazes
