Hi,
          Thanks for that now I can pinpoint the area. My great great great grandparents Andrew Wilson and Elizabeth Tinnoch had their first 4 children in Galston Ayrshire (Andrew ,Janet,James and Margaret)where Andrew was a farmer they then appear to have moved to East Kilbride between 1815 and 1818 and had a further 4 children(Elizabeth,William, Jean and Robert) but none of the OPR's give Andrew's profession when he has moved to East Kilbride . I have no idea why an Ayrshire farmer would have moved moved from Ayrshire any suggestions ? I cannot find any  matches by the 1841 census although I pick up Andrew the son my great great grandfather from 1851 census onward .

The buildings shown on the map were still showing on the 1935 map. It looks like there are houses built on that spot now.

 :) Hello my name is Christopher Ladds and I am a local historian for the Calderwood/Calderglen/St Leonards area of East Kilbride. Pretty much all that is already said on this thread on Brankumhall Farm is all that is known. The farm was at least as early as 1747, although it is likely to have been one of the more ancient landholdings in the area as the name is ancient Welsh in origin. An ancient Welsh tribe known as the Damnoni inhabited this district in the ancient past. (*)  Happy Hunting!  ;D

I am a direct relation of John HISLOP & his wife Agnes Hamilton ( born 1774 SANQUHAR). They Wed in TARBOLTON in 1795 and my ancester is James Hislop born around 1807/8. I am starting to trace Agnes mother Janet McLonie from Sanquhar & father John Hamilton from Sanquhar ?   ;D

              Great to hear from you   yes James was born 20/02/1807  I am a direct descendant of his sister Margaret who was born in 1809. I have the marriage for Agnes and John in Tarbolton 1795 but did not know Agnes was born in Sanquar, what led you to that ?
