Hi
He served in a number of Regiments most of them seem to be mounted??
Started off Berkshire Yeomanry, then Machine Gun Corps im not sure on next regiment?? Corps of Drums?? finally in 2ND Dragoon Guards

He was awarded British War and Victory Medals and also the Indian General Service Medal with the 2nd Dragoon Guards so he saw action in one of the rebellions between 1919-1921 possibly the Mallabar uprising?
He didnt go to France till after Jan 1916.

Surname P havent been uploaded to Ancestry yet...Do you know if he stayed on in the army after the 20s??

Do you have access to his medals?

Hope that helps for starters.

Ady :)

You may get some info from here...I think the Berkshire Yeomanry were then incorporated into the Machine Gun Corps.

Thanks very much I will have a look!

He did stay in the army until well into the 1930's I believe.  His son was born at an army hospital in Aldershot in 1935.

In that case his Service Record will still be with MOD
You need to visit the Veterans agency website and download a Record search form to request it.It may cost you some money but i think it will make interesting reading.

The third unit listed on the MIC is the Corps of Dragoons which was a holding / training unit where soldiers were posted before going on to their field unit

A lot of yeomanry soldiers were also posted through the Corps of Hussars.

You may want to make a post on the following thread from the Great War Forum.

The owner of the thread, Andrew French is a fellow trustee of the Berkshire Yeomanry Museum & one of their curators with a gold mine of information on individual soldiers
