Many of us find other people's families just as interesting as our own - sometimes more so!  We can learn all sorts of social history from a different section of society

I remember taking my daughters to Tognarellis in Kendal when they were small.
Later it became a safe meeting place for young teenagers.
It closed in the late 80s or earlt 90s.

Hi, I was really interested in what Toggie had to say. We are not related, but our families have some links. I don`t know if anyone is still following these posts? My Grandfather was also from near Barga. I have spent a lot of time there. I have pics if anyone was interested. My Grandfather was married in January 1922. His Best Man was William Tognarelli. I have a photo of the occasion and a Marriage Certificate with William`s signature on it. The Maid of Honour was a Sarah Johnston, also in the photo. At some time in her life, my Grandmother (also from not too far from Barga in Italy) gave her address as 46, Pow Street. They were married in the Church of Our Lady and St. Michael.
  Let me know if you are interested in this stuff.

My Grandfather`s name was Ferdinando (Fred) Fabbri. My Nan was Maria Pieroni. My Grandfather came to England in 1912, when he was 14 to work for whoever it was who sponsored him. He returned to Italy about two years later to do his military service and got caught up in the war. In about 1972, he was made Cavaliere dell`Ordine di Vittorio Veneto and awarded two medals. As I mentioned, he returned and later married my Nan in 1922. Hopefully, I have attached some photos. William Tognarelli is pictured along with the Bride and Groom etc.. Also pictured is my Granfather far right with unknown friends or colleagues. Any ideas?

Silly question.........How is it that I am putting photos of Tognarellis on here? The first is outside 46, Pow Street and shows Genny Tognarelli on the right. Second outside Pow Street shows Renzo Tognarelli. Third is of Bridge Street. My Nan`s friend around this time (remember she seems to have lived at Pow Street ) was a Gene Biglia. I wonder if that might be Mrs Tognarelli`s maiden name?
