Hi Hellen.
I originally replied to this post, because it mentioned Mossend. It was only when I re read it, that I noticed the significance of the names to my family.
Like you , my McMasters on my dad's mum's side, were from Ireland.I have a marriage for EDWARD STEELE, to MARY MCMASTER.( 21st July 1856-Craigs, Ballymena, Cty Antrim) There daughter, MARGARET, was my gt grandmother. She married DAVID MCBRIDE (13th July 1883- Ballymena, Cty Antrim).
That is my potted history of my McMaster line.
There is also mention of William McMaster, marrying an Ellen WYLIE. I also have a Wylie line , this time from my dad's dad's side of the family. My gt grandmother was born JANE STIRLING WYLIE. Her grandparents, James and Maria Wylie ( originally spelt Wiley, at the time of their marriage) were married 23rd October 1851,Newtonhamilton, Cty Armagh.
That was my potted Wylie history.
Hope that was of some interest to you.
Cheers
Gail
