Gunning NSW query
« on: Monday 10 November 08 06:50 GMT (UK) »
Dear Chatters,

Would anyone out there be from around the Gunning, NSW district. We have just found out that one of our rellies died and was buried there in 1851 ( October) and was wondering if anyone has any cemetary records from that area that might help us. Her name was Mary jemott and she came to NSW from Tasmania in 1847 on the Tory. She died at 73 so I am really interested why a 69 year old widow would travel from Tassie to Gunning Nsw on her own. Her previous name was Mack - maybe there were some relatives there that she went to live with? If anyone knows anything about the Gunning area I would love to hear from you.

Thanks so much for any help.
Regards
Michelle

She is listed on NSW BDM as Jemot. Her death cert may help.

Thanks J,

We have her death certificate but we were interested in finding her headstone if possible to try and get some more info about her. If anyone knows anything about the area in the period 1847 to 1852 we would be very interested to know.

Thanks
Michelle
