AXON Family

I have hit a brick wall with my Axon Family.  Can anyone help?
Albert William Axon married to Mary Ann Wilson Their Children are
Thomas b 1861 Salford
Caroline b. 1866  Manchester
Charlotte 1868 Salford  (my great grandmother)
Richard 1869 b. Salford
James Robert b. 1875 Salford
Jane 1876  b. Salford
Henry 1880 b. Salford

I have Albert in 1841, 1871, 1891, cenus but the family seems to have disappeared for the 1881 census and 1891 census.

Caroline I have in the 1871 census aged 3 and then she is in a workhouse in manchester  in the 1901 census but I cant find a death for her or any mention of her in any other census.
I have tried many variations on the surname to no avail

Charlotte my g grandmother married a Richard Howell on 17th Jan 1886 in Salford, but I only have her in the 1871 census with her family, then she only appears again in the 1901 census with my Great Grandfather Arthur Harrison and she is now Charlotte Harrison, I cannot find a death for Richard Howell...so she was probably not married to my G Grandfather , but they had 13 Children.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially with Charlotte and Caroline they are the two I am most frustrated by

Caroline is at Chorlton On Medlock Penitentiary in 1891: RG12/3189 78 14

Albert and Mary A in 1901: RG13/3724 21 34

Please just ask for the details if you don't have access to census.

Hi Jellyby,
I am not sure if it is one of 'my'Axons or not.  I know a couple of the chaps served but as of yet have not got that far with the 'outer relatives' as I call them, but I would love to see it.
