boolavogue,Wexford

I was always told my grandfather was from Boolavogue.   He was Denis Houlihan (maybe a different spelling). He was born around 1870 but I can find no Houlihans living there around that time.  His mother was Johanna Mclean.
Would love to get any information
Ronnie

Ronnie, have you got Denis' birth cert?

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say you can find no Houlihans there (since there's no census around that time)?

Thanks for the reply.   I do know he was Baptised in Boolavogue but Houlihans are not on Griffith Valuation or on cemetery records for all of that area.  I have searched all the Wexford pages.  Sometime in the early 1900s  possibly after 1910 he moved to Tullow Co Carlow where he married and spent the rest of his life and is buried there in the Mullawn Cemetery,

if they were labourers, herdsmen etc, they might not be on Griffith as they wouldn't be renting land -
many of my family aren't on Griffith, and couldn't afford gravestones, though I found their baptisms and marriages in the parish records
- this may be the route you'll have to go down .. it'll be easier when the Wexford records come online .. I'm not sure what R.C. parish Boolavogue is in?
