Hello DeeJAY I know this is a long shot has your entry was posted some time ago. I am researching the Preston family which was my maiden name. My GGrandad was born in Westminster London, as was his Father William. Williams Father which makes him my GGGrandad was Joseph Preston, I have been ableto find a marriage record for him, but unfortunately no birth record of him in London, so the conclusion I have come to he must have been born elsewhere. I do know he was born in 1794 the only 2 records I can find of a Joseph Preston is in Berkshire, and Nottingham, but I am leaning to the Berkshire one, as all the childrens names I have of the family you are interested in are family names, I have found a marriage entry for a John Preston to a Mary Wheeler, could be the them, have you managed to find any further info on them . Firstly, Carole, I must apologise for not responding to your PM which arrived earlier this month when my computer was away for a rebuild and I only had temporary access to a borrowed laptop without any of my usual websites or my personal research.

I did not get any further with my own PRESTON research, having failed to find the marriage of John PRESTON and Mary WHEELER, so I consigned them to the back-burner again.   

I would be very interested in the details of the marriage that you found, please?  Hopefully we may be able to assist each other to break down our personal 'brickwalls'.

He llo, Here is the marriage I found of John Preston and Mary Wheeler. married 16th Oct 1776.
 Children, Joseph 1794, William 1782, Elizabeth 1785, Rachel 1788 died 1790, David 1792, charles 1800, John 1789. sorry  forgot to mention marriage Chiseldon Wiltshire which is very near  Berkshire , this family is the nearest I have got to my GGGrandfather who was Joseph Preston he married 1821 ST jOHN THE eVANGELIST wESTMINSTER 1821 but could find no baptism for him there so assumed he was born elsewhere only this entry matches his date of birth.
