Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

Do you have the names of Amy's parents?

Can't see a birth registered 1901-1903 for an Amy Green in Oxfordshire  :-\

Hi ...

I checked FreeBMD for any Amy GREENs registered in Northamptonshire (being fairly local I know how the county boundary moves around in that area!) - nothing!

Then checked for Amy GREENs countrywide - still nothing in that timeframe.

Then checked for all GREENs (any forename) registered in Oxfordshire 1901-1903, and found this one:

Mar 1902
GREEN Female
Banbury
3a 1023

If you're reasonably certain of birth year/place, it could be worth ordering this certificate (although unless you have a good idea of parents names it may not help!).  (Please recheck reference on FreeBMD website before ordering - I'm not infallible!)

Interestingly, there are no GREEN families residing in Banbury on the 1901 census, although plenty in the surrounding villages.

Hope this may help.

A couple more leads:

Someone on GR has your Amy listed (presume it's not you!), born Banbury 1902 (plus what looks like a sister - Elizabeth, born Banbury 1909).

Also plenty of people researching GREENs in Banbury and the surrounding areas listed on the Oxfordshire Surname Interest List.

Hi
Welcome to rootschat.  Have you looked at www.freebmd.org.uk ?  That is a first port of call for all of us.  It is not full coverage but it does have a possible birth for Amy May Green registered in Reading in Jun 1901.  Not that far from Banbury.   You could write to the local register office in Reading and ask if that is the daughter of a William.  They will send back your £7 if it is not.   Who are the witnesses at the marriage?  They may be relatives.   How do you know she was born in Banbury?   Finding the birth is going to be important as Green is such a common name.
