John Harris
« on: Wednesday 05 November 08 16:16 GMT (UK) »
My ancestor, John Harris, is on the War Memorial in Stirling.  He was killed in action in WWI.

We have searched for his Service Records but could only find his brother Daniel Harris.

Can anyone help.

Considering you denied him to Anne McKenzie, here you are claiming him as YOUR ancestor!!!

In response to post No. 1 ........... (Post 2 seems to be unconnected  ???)

Can you supply any further info on John Harris?

There's a John Harris listed on SNWM with Doune as his birthplace - just outside Stirling - could this be him?

Place of birth Doune Perthshire
Other formerly 8251 5th R.C.R.

Sorry Anne

This was a private dig and not meant to be read by anyone else.

Are you related to John Harris?  Daniel was his brother, his record is is available.  He survived the war and emigrated to America.  Please contact me if you would like any further information.

Kind regards

Hi Tom,

No, I'm not related - just like to try and help in any way I can.

I'm involved with both the Scottish War Memorial & Scottish War Graves Projects and any info on any Scottish Service Personnel is always welcome, including photos, family info, stories etc.

If you want a wee look, see:

Memorials: http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/

War Graves: http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/index.php?mforum=scottishwargraves

Obviously you have to join to add any sort of info, but I'd be delighted to do it on your behalf (crediting you as the source of course!)
