Road accident
« on: Tuesday 04 November 08 19:36 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone please help?

I am looking for information regarding an accident which took place on December 23rd 1956 at Stroud, Gloucestershire.
The man, John Hopper, was killed when he  accidentallyfell off his motor cycle on the road leading from Sheepscombe to Cranham in the parish of Painswick.
John Hopper was living at that time at 59, Green Acre Pound Farm Estate, Brockworth.
Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find copies of local newspapers which may have published details of the death at that time.
I should be very grateful for any help or advice,
                                           Thanks
                                                   John Hopper   Jnr

Dear Richard,    Thanks for replying to me.  I am actually searching for my father
who died in a motor accident.  He was born in Leeds on 14th September, 1915  and was married to a Hilda Barker on 2nd June 1938.  I don't know exactly where my father died but I found on Ancestry this John Hopper who was born the same year. I know it is a longshot but I wondered if it could be the same John Hopper.
After my mother's death in childbirth, in 1943, I was adopted and my father was away in the forces.  I was born in 1940.  I never had any more news of my father after the end of the war although I know that he died  some time after the war.
I should be grateful if you would reply to me if only so that I can eliminate him from my research.
Regards     John Hopper  ( Preston )

Hi Richard,

Wow, I have been searching for my birth father for many years and I do hope that at last I have found some answers. I have researched  his ancestors who came from Hutton Bushell near Scarborough and have found lots of info regarding them including many bmd certificates but, alas, have been unable to find any whereabouts of my father, after his first marriage.
My father's father, also John Hopper,  came from Cheshire but my father, as I told you before, was born in  Leeds.
Eagerly looking forward to hearing from you,
                             John  H
