I had that information, but thanks for letting me know!  Did you know Patience died at the same address 10 days after the census on April 21 1911?

James and Sarah's marriage is still a mystery, although I have found a James Wilson a hawker and widower who married a Sarah Smith nee Turner a widow whose father is recorded as an acrobat.  That would fit in with the fairground connection the family have always insisted was there!  If it is in fact the correct Sarah and James, I have an even bigger problem with finding their previous spouses - what a nightmare with the names Smith, Wilson and Turner!

I came across your interest in the Wilson family whilst I was looking for information on the Penfolds of Battersea (Having gone to school with Bobby Penfold and his brother in the 1940's). I thought you might be interested in the following-
My great aunt, Louisa Lucas, who was born in Stonells Place, Battersea, in 1876 married a William Simpson who I believe was born in Notting Hill. In the 1901 and 1911 census, they were living in Manley's Yard, Cabul Rd , Battersea in one of the caravans and they were both described as 'horse dealers' .
At some time they moved to Yelverton Rd, Battersea, which I believe is off York Rd, What might interest you is Louisa's will (1937)shows the executor as Brittania Wilson, wife of Charles Wilson  and when William Simpson died in 1941 Brittania was again showed as the executor.
Any idea who Brittania or Charles Wilson  are?

Moogester, yes I have her death thanks.  Gambier, sorry but the only Charles Wilson I have was the son of James and Sarah and he was born 1884. In fact thats your James and Sarah, Moogester. I have a photo of James, and he was born in Mansfield, same as me!

I can't find any reference to a Brittania Wilson in my tree.  I have a Charles Wilson who was married to Kate Clark in 1905, I don't know her death date, but I can't find a second marriage for Charles to a Brittania although that doesn't rule out it being the same Charles!

Yelverton Road was the next road to Urswick Road (later known as Badric Road) and you're right they were off York Road.  My maternal family lived there until the late 1960's when the houses were demolished to make way for tower blocks.  I know there were an awful lot of Penfolds in Battersea.  My parents were both at school in Battersea in the 1940s, can you remember anybody called Peach or Squire?

Thanks for your email. Have to keep looking to see what I can find out about Brittannia Wilson, if I have any luck I will let you know.

I actually went to Holden St School (Shaftesbury Park) off Eversleigh Rd Cannot remember anybody called Peach or Squire. Did know a boy called Johnny Squires  who I think lived in Beaufoy Rd.

Don't know if there is any connection- my paternal greatgrandmother  was Lucy Squire who was born in 1829 in Southwark and died on 5 Dec 1900 in the Union Infirmary. Clapham (Union Grove). Her father was Timothy Squire who was born in 1802 in Kingston upon Thames.  The Squire family were well known gypsies in the Kingston area at the time although they originated from the West Teignmouth  area of Devon and moved into the Kingston area in the mid 1700's. If they are connected to you, I have quite a lot of information which I'll be happy to share.

Hi Gambier

I noticed your reply about the Squire family in the post about James Wilson purely by typing in the words Timothy Squire on Google !  I think that we must be related in some way because my 4 x great-grandmother was Mary Squire, born 1764 at Kingston upon Thames, Surrey and the daughter of Timothy Squire, born 1720's and died Kingston in 1779. He married Mary Wells in 1752 at West Molesey, Surrey and had several children, one of whom, James, was transported to Australia with the First Fleet in 1788 and became Australia's first commercial brewer.
I did not know that the Squire family originated from the West country, but in Kingston the first entry I have found was the burial of a Timothy Squire in 1750 (Timothy's father?), with several other entries including the burial of Mary Squire, Timothy's first wife, in 1751. It may well be that Timothy's first marriage was a Fleet marriage, as an entry for Timothy Squire marrying a lady named Mary was found in the Fleet registers for 1747.
Any info you would be willing to share about the Squire family would be gratefully received.

Hi there I am just wondering if someone out there has a Martha Wilson born approx 1806 who married a William Stewart (steward) in Yarm in 1824.  Would be really interested to find out about her but can't find any parents and don't even know where she was born. I have only found her in the 1881 census living at hetton le hole and dying at Easington Lane Durham.  Any help would be appreciated.

Moogester, my great great granny was a Romany gypsy from the Clark family. We dont hear much about that surname associated with gypsies, but she was from Sussex.
