Looking for wills old/new
« on: Monday 03 November 08 19:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone.

Does anyone know of any genuine sites where I can search for a copy of a will.

I'm looking for 2...1 in the last 10 years and also following a tale my gran had past down "about alot of money held in chancery"
We have a family middle name which has been past down....i have found the name to be  my g'g'g'g grandmothers maiden name and the money is suppose to be from her family but my gran said no 1 in the family knew where our family middle name came from so could never prove a connection.

Any help would be fab....you never know i could be RICH...

I did not quite understand your post.   "2...1 in the last 10 years" ??    There are various pre 1837 wills online at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/ but the Yorkshire ones are only likely to be on there if they had property in other places too.   All post 1858 wills are held at the Central Probate Office in Holborn and you can also order copies from York.   The index of those is on fiche and held at many major libraries and record offices.   Have you looked at www.genuki.org.uk ?   They have links to many local web sites and you might strike lucky.
