i have been a member of GenesReunited and Friendsreunited for two years .
I have found several relatives and connections to the other marriage surnames aswell from this site aswell as a few from rootschat.
I have found a cousin of my mothers who she hasnt seen for 50 years by using genesreuntied. They will be meeting soon.

You only get out of a site what you are awilling to put into it.
GenesReunited have request pages and community pages but several people dont know how to use them so they dont bother.
If you add your family tree into it then you will get someone who is a relative.

Anything which helps you to get to your goal has to be good.
A small charge is worth it if you use the site regularly.

Well I have just send my cheque away last Monday to join Genes Reunited so I don't know whether it was worth it now after reading all these comments. ???
I have had contacts from 3 or 4 distant relatives so I hope to view there trees and get further back. but i would definitely say this is THE BEST site that i have used for family research :) ;) :D and I just starting using rootschat on Saturday 29 October 05.
I would recommend this site to everyone 8)

...just to let you in to a little secret, we're bringing out a similar system to them where you will be able to search for links between your tree and other people.. we are still testing it... but the thing is - it will be as free as the rest of RootsChat is... that is of course if you think it would be of benefit to you. :)

Has this already happened how do you search between your tree & other peoples on Rootschat

Hi As a newcomer to Rootschat I too have found a brilliant site and found some relatives already.   ! or 2 appeared on genes as well,  ;D  now that does cause some laughs and confusion   :) :)  I do have to stick up for genes tho' as i have found a great many rellies and the Cosford site, another great site for West Suffolk.     On Genes I put my partners father's name in and got a hit straight away.   Our xmas card list has grown with 4 cousins & families--large families-- a sister & half sister & neices & nephews. 2 more cousins who we are waiting for a reply from.   Two family re-unions and lots of laughter. So some are better than others but, the more you give the more you get.   Good Luck & Happy Hunting where ever you look  :D

Hi Sarah.
Just wanted to let you know that, allow I love GR, the same anomaly occurs on my tree too. My GGGG Grandfather John Muscutt has a mystery spouse (a man!!) named Brian Johnson. How odd is that?? ;D

Cheers.

Ryan.

:)

I think once you give someone else access to your tree, they too can update it
