Hello. I'm a bit late for this discussion but I have just received a death certificate of my great aunt in Buffalo, New York. It states she was born in Ravensdale Co Louth. She would appear to be a sister of another great aunt.
Bridget Sheerin nee Trainor, b Dec 1860, died  February 1917 in Buffalo. Her parents were Bernard and Margaret Trainor, just Ireland for their birthplace
The other aunt was Margaret Sheerin nee Trainor, b1868, died 1954 in New Jersey
Is there any way of checking the parish records?
I would be grateful for any help or direction
Thank you, Barbara

Hello Audrey. Yes this helps a lot! Did you see any Bridget in Ravensdale? The family must have moved from Scotstown after her birth, there's also a Hugh Trainor b1840 in Castletown Parish that was a godfather 1895 in Philadelphia to Margaret Trainor nee Sheerin's daughter. I found him in the IGI but his mother is Mary McAlister though his father is Bernard Traynor
I have a problem and a mystery with these Trainors but now I have something to go on
Thank you very much
